Today, we're going full adventure mode, heading to Savuti, a legendary spot in the heart of Chobe National Park, Botswana! Honestly, every time I set foot there, I get chills. This place is just incredible—a raw, untamed land where time feels like it has stood still. Here, it’s not the sounds of the city you hear, but the calls of lions, elephants, and hyenas in full survival mode. In short, a real-life movie set!
Savage Kingdom: When Nature Becomes a Real-Life Game of Thrones
One day, I came across Savage Kingdom, a series on National Geographic. It’s not just another wildlife documentary—it’s all about territory battles, alliances, betrayals… A pure Game of Thrones, but in the wild! And the coolest part? The narrator is Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister himself!). His deep, commanding voice adds insane intensity to this saga, where every predator fights for survival.

Face to Face with Sekekama and His Lion Pride
In 2019, I experienced one of the craziest moments of my life: a face-to-face encounter with Sekekama’s pride!
Sekekama isn’t just any lion—he’s THE boss of Savuti. A dominant, ultra-charismatic lion, a true legend. Imagine yourself surrounded by a dozen lions, some just a few meters away…

At one point, a lioness locked eyes with me and started walking straight toward me… adrenaline level: max! In that exact moment, I realized that in this kingdom, I don’t make the rules. But by staying calm and respecting their space, I experienced an insane connection with these big cats. A true masterclass from nature!

By the way, fun fact: Sekekama was one of the few lions capable of hunting elephants! A true beast of power and strategy. Today, he and his brother Thornnose have made way for the new generation, but their legend is still very much alive!

The Savuti Channel: A River That Plays Hide and Seek
Another impressive phenomenon of Savuti: its channel that disappears and reappears like a glitch! Sometimes it’s dry for years, then suddenly it flows and turns the entire landscape into an oasis. And all of this, due to tectonic shifts! Right now, it’s in desert mode, making life even harder for the animals. Here, it’s the law of the strongest!
The Other Wonders of Savuti
Savuti isn’t just about amazing lions. There’s also:
- The zebra migration: Every year, thousands of zebras cross Savuti, being hunted by predators… A real royal battle!
- The rock paintings of Gubatsa: Traces left by the San (Bushmen) who lived here centuries ago. These people already had a deep understanding of nature.
Why am I sharing all of this with you?
Because Savuti isn’t just a destination, it’s an experience that changes you. Here, you disconnect from the modern world and feel the true essence of wildlife. The sounds, the smells, the energy of the animals… Everything is authentic!
Conclusion: The ball’s in your court!
If you get the chance to go to Savuti, go for it. It’s not just a safari, it’s a journey that puts you in your place in the face of nature’s power. You’ll leave with stars in your eyes and a huge sense of humility in front of this unforgiving world…
So, who’s up for a 100% wild adventure? 🦁🔥
